I need my devices to be exposed to the internet - how can I do this? Print

The process of exposing devices in your LAN to the internet may be achieved by port fowarding. This allows you to map a port from the internet to an IP or device that exist in your local area network (LAN).

For security and ongoing support reasons - Accelerit does not expose any of your devices to the internet even though you have internet connectivity via your FTTH router. This is the reason you may find that you can access your devices via IP while within your network but not when coming from outside (the internet). Our default configuration is as such for your own protection and we will never change this for any FTTH user.

It is important to note that Accelerit does not block any ports on its network and as such should you need to expose any of your devices to the internet - you simply need to purchase a router capable of port forwarding and proceed to configure at will. Just be aware of the risks and secure your network accordingly as we will not be respnsible for any breach that occurs.

Most cost effective routers in the market support port forwarding so you will not struggle to find one and configure it for as many services as you need port forwarding for whenever you need to.

Once you have your router it is important to ensure that you utilize a Dynamic DNS service that will ensure continued connectivity to your home network from the outside world even in the event your public IP changes.

You will also find that there are many youtube tutorials on port forwarding. Just make sure you know what you are doing.
